I recently set out on the adventure of getting engagement photos done with my fiancé, and the gallery is back. They are amazing, and I am even more excited for the wedding ones now!
Engagement Photos in the Cherry Blossoms, Ottawa Arboretum
Not two weeks before the wedding, our photographer (Melissa Morrissey) surprised us with an invitation to an engagement photoshoot in the cherry blossoms at the Ottawa Arboretum. Of course with the wedding coming up soon, we wanted these images to be unique, and stand as a beautiful album on their own–so we decided to get a little more creative and style it as a vintage-inspired shoot. With two photographers collaborating, we knew this was going to be amazing! Equipped with our new-to-us cardigans from Royal Palm Vintage, my gorgeous polka dot dress from the Ottawa Vintage Clothing Show, and my perfectly relaxed curls from my bachelorette party a few days before, we were more than ready! I wore no makeup (as per usual) other than my lip stain for a pop of pink, to keep it fresh and romantic. Between my extensive wardrobe prep and Melissa’s photography and editing style, we were left with a gallery of beautiful images of a blissfully romantic stroll in the park. Wall worthy for sure!
We are the Weirdoes, and this is our story.
I particularly love his natural cardigan with elbow patches that I picked up the few days before at Royal Palm Vintage while cruising Hintonburg with my bestie, not even knowing about this shoot. Always on the lookout for amazing finds, this one. I scored even more finds at the annual Great Glebe Garage Sale this weekend, including my getting-ready outfit for the morning of the wedding. stay tuned for those photos too! And that hair! Special thanks to my maid of honour and her curling wand on that one.
She even had me sneak into a mini alley of cedar trees for a unique photo-op. Felt super weird doing it at the time, but I think it turned out quite nicely. If you are looking for the perfect combination of dark&moody yet light&airy images to celebrate a special occasion or document everyday things, then you need to call Melissa Morrissey and book your spot!
Until next time!
